My Selangor Story is a contest spearheaded by Tourism Selangor to promote Selangor’s cultural diversity and rich tourism resource to travellers around the world and Ping.sg is proud to be named the official online community for the campaign.

Singapore’s online reality TV – Nokia The Rookie

Nokia Singapore has recently organized and produced a Singapore-based reality TV to promote its newest handset, Nokia E72.

The show is organized similar to the format of The Apprentice where contestants are required to perform certain business-related tasks. Losers will be eliminated with each episodes. The unique and nicest thing about this series is the fact that the whole process of this show, from searching of the contestants, to the actual airing of the episodes are done online on the internet.

5 episodes have been aired thus far. Each episodes showcase how the contestants utilizes various functions of E72 to aid in the given challenges in the quest to be crowned the rookie.

Catch the the new and past episodes online at the official site. There are even behind-the-scene episodes available after airing of the actual ones.

The finale has also just been posted, and I’m going to check it out now!

Ping.sg is going offline for maintenance

Ping.sg will be off from now for an hour or two for maintenance.

Update at 7:09AM: Site is still down due as we are in the process of migrating to a new server.
Update at 12:33PM: We’re almost there. This is probably one of our longest scheduled downtime ever. Hang in there!
Update at 2:01PM:And we’re back, on full cloud computing. More updates soon. Speed upgrades may not be obvious yet as we are still optimizing our setups. In the mean time, resume your pinging and ponging!

My Perfect Vacation with Cebu Pacific Week 1 Winners

Ping.sg has been running an online contest for a budget airline operating in Singapore, Cebu Pacific. We have 10 pairs (total of 20) tickets to Avatar movie* to be given away!

There are 2 parts to the contest, online quiz and lucky retweets. Each week we will be announcing 2 lucky winners for lucky retweets. Each winners will be receiving a pair of movie tickets each.

Urgent Maintenance [Nov 22, 2009 2:00AM]

Ping.sg is going to be offline from Nov 22, 2009 2:00 AM SGT for an urgent maintenance — major upgrading of Ping.sg core.

Scheduled downtime is to be around 2 hours.

3:57 AM: We are still encountering some difficulties in the upgrade. This might take a little longer.
5:19 AM: We are back. Most features are functional. Daily digests is currently offline. We are still working to resolve the issue. Pinging and ponging activities can resume now.
5:19 AM: Things should be all fixed and good now.

This upgrade doesn’t create any visible changes, yet. But this upgrade allows us to roll out more new updates in the near future.
